Define Tenant Access to the <GLOBAL> Project
This applies to: Managed Dashboards, Managed Reports
All users in Symphony have access to the <GLOBAL> project by default. The <GLOBAL> project and shared files are created as a part of the installation process and available to all global users. As needed, you can make <GLOBAL> content available to tenant users.
When a project is associated with a tenant, it cannot be accessed by members of any other tenant unless you explicitly change the security settings for the project. Tenant users can also create their own content in these projects if they have sufficient privileges. Tenant administrators can create projects within their own tenant.
Remove Access to the <GLOBAL> Project for all Tenants
If you'd like to prevent your tenant users from accessing resources in the <GLOBAL> project, remove their access to <GLOBAL>, then add appropriate connectors and projects to their tenant.
Log in to Symphony as a system Admin user and open the Managed Dashboards work area. Your main dashboards work area opens.
Select Profile > Administration from the main menu. The Symphony Overview work area opens, including an expanded main menu with administration options.
Select Projects / File System > Projects. The Projects work area opens.
Select the <GLOBAL> project, then Edit. The Properties window for this project opens.
Select Security to open the Security work area.
Select Add... in the Groups and Accounts area. Select Global Users, assign appropriate security privileges, then select Save to save your changes. This gives access to the <GLOBAL> project for all global users not associated with one or more tenants.
Next, find the group Everyone in the Groups and Accounts area, then select the trash can icon to remove access.
Select Save to save your changes. The Security work area closes, returning you to the Properties work area.
Select Save to save your changes. The Properties work area for this project closes. Current and future users can no longer access the shared <GLOBAL> project by default.
Next, create and give your tenant users access to a connector. Create or access data connectors by navigating to the Administration work area, then select a project file by selecting Projects/File System, then File Explorer to add the connector to a project. Connect directly to a data source, or connect to Visual Data Discovery data source for their projects.
