25.4 Feature Enhancements

Symphony has a new look and feel when you upgrade to v25.4. In addition to a new color scheme, we've streamlined and updated multiple areas and workflows to simplify how users and administrators access work in Symphony.

• Select a home page to present to your users, allowing them to work directly with the content and data most relevant to their needs: Visual Data Discovery or Managed Dashboards & Reports.

• Users can now switch more easily between Visual Data Discovery and Managed Dashboards and reports, and access other features easily from the refreshed main menu.

• Tenant and user workflows have been updated to allow a smoother workflow when creating or updating tenants and users, including setting attributes and default home pages.

• Group privileges are easier access in our redesigned work areas.

• We have expanded SFTP set up and management options at the instance, tenant, and user level. Define attributes directly in Symphony, using user attributes or tenant attributes as needed, or simply for the entire instance depending on your organization's needs.

• Customize your Symphony theme with our revised and expanded theme options.

Source creation is now easier than ever with drag and drop source creation. When you create a new source, simply drag the entity or entities you want to use from the Connections tab or Files tab directly onto the Source Creation work area.

Create joins quickly and easily using the visual interface. Select an entity and view its properties in the Properties panel as needed.

The Cache and Global Settings tabs have moved to the top of the work area; select these tabs to define and update your fields and settings at any time. Define a Custom SQL type entity creation directly in the work area.

Set up dynamic columns in reports and scorecards that repeat your design horizontally for each data value.

After you add data to columns, you can enter a selection mode you can use to define what elements should repeat for each Column value in the group’s Data Analysis Panel.

These repeating elements are included both on screen and when exported in PDF format, with the data wrapped for readability.

We have expanded sharing capability to self service reports. When you allow sharing of dashboards in your environment, your users can now easily share self service reports as well.

Users can share self service reports with other users and established groups in your instance, or within a tenant quickly and easily.

The workflow for tenant creation and updates is now easier to manage and maintain. Create and update tenant information in one work area.

Set up the Reply-To Email and Sender Display Name in this expanded work area as a tenant attribute if needed for sharing dashboard reports and self service reports.

Additionally, you can return reserved tenant attributes using the new endpoint, api/account-attributes/reserved/. See API Updates.

Call data using the OData API and return in column format when you use a custom query parameter that includes response_format=compact. See API Updates.

Use the dashboardTag and sourceTag entities to filter dashboard and source lists using the related API or in an embedded environment. You can filter using the operators IN, NOT, !=, <>, AND, and OR.

Use dashboardTag in conjunction with Dashboard Interactivity settings to serve and exclude appropriate dashboards to users based on your filter expressions.

You can now define a join operation when you add two structures to a data cube, join two data cubes together, or join a data cube to a structure. The new property Join Operation in the Relationship dialog reflects the type of join you define.

We have expanded aggregate metric function support for all connectors. Use the listagg function, for example, as Listagg(fieldname, 'delimiter') to concatenate the fields values, separated by the defined delimiter.

Pushdown is supported for multiple connectors:

BigQuery, Impala, MySQL, MemSQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Snowflake, and SparkSQL.

You can now enable a time bar option in your environment that allows the time bar slider to snap to the closest interval of the defined granularity for a specific source. This is disabled by default: enable the new server-level variable, timebar-snap-to-interval to use in your environment.

It's now easier to see what data cube the parameters inside a data cube originated from, allowing you to more quickly select the appropriate parameters from appropriate sources.

In this release of Symphony, you can now connect your Managed Dashboards & Reports data to your Trino resources using the new data provider in data connectors.

Updated encryption options are available when using Microsoft SQL Server for the application and warehouse databases.

Hierarchical filters now automatically save your filter configurations, preserving them across sessions.

• Expanded or collapsed nodes are now saved and restored when you return to the dashboard.

• Admins and dashboard owners can set permanent filter selections and expansion states as the default view for all users.

• Your non-owner users can explore filters freely and use "Save As" to create their own dashboard copy with customized settings.

Export data you are previewing when you work in a data cube for further analysis or verification. With the Data Preview window open for a selected transform, select the Excel option from the Share button in the toolbar.

Relationships can now be created that identify how to join data cubes with other data if the configuration setting to Allow Automatic Cube Joins is enabled.

• Added Simba Intelligence as an optional subchart (OCI registry: oci://registry-1.docker.io/insightsoftware/simba-intelligence-chart).

• Controlled via global.logi.symphony.simba.intelligence.enabled (default: false).

• Includes dedicated database initialization (simbaintelligence), proxy routing for website (/intelligence/), MCP endpoints (/mcp, /.well-known), and ingress.yaml template for direct routing scenarios.

• Adds validation preventing concurrent use with virtualPath feature.

• Added automatic detection of existing Bitnami PostgreSQL resources during install/upgrade.

• When global.postgresql.enabled=true and Bitnami resources are detected, the installation will fail with migration instructions unless global.postgresql.continueToUseBitnamiPostgresHelmChart=true is set.

• This prepares users for the upcoming migration away from Bitnami PostgreSQL subchart. Introduces continueToUseBitnamiPostgresHelmChart value to explicitly control Bitnami subchart usage.

• Migrated from Bitnami RabbitMQ subchart to custom RabbitMQ StatefulSet implementation.

  Caution: Breaking Change: Service names changed from {{ .Release.Name }}-rabbitmq to {{ .Release.Name }}-logi-symphony-rabbitmq, secret names updated accordingly, virtual host now uses {{ .Release.Name }}-symphony, and one orphaned PVC from Bitnami RabbitMQ will remain after upgrade. Topology is automatically reconfigured.

• Provides better control, consistency, and eliminates dependency on Bitnami subchart.

A new Redis cache provider implementation provider is available in the Helm chart for Kubernetes deployments, replacing the previous Bitnami dependency.

• Added global.logi.symphony.defaultModule parameter to set the default module for Logi Symphony.

• Options are Managed or Discovery. When set, this value overrides the managed application configuration using the Config Override feature.

• By default, it is empty and the managed application defaults to Discovery.

25.4 API Updates

A new query parameter, response_format=compact, has been added to the existing OData API endpoint: /api/sources/odata/s_{sourceid}?response_format=compact.

When you include this parameter in your query, the API returns data in a more efficient, compact JSON format. The reduced size of the response payload increases the speed of data transfer.

Addressed a potential issue where application styling resources may be incorrectly duplicated when setting them using certain API calls. Please contact support to assist with resolving this issue if you are affected and prevented from upgrading.

Fixed an issue that could prevent the Flatten JSON transform from correctly handling property names containing special characters.

The option to define text formatting on measures is now correctly available for metric sets with Data Retrieval Mode set to Raw Data or with <Row Number> added to Rows.

Fixed unexpected behavior that was occurring when configuring certain manual select placeholders where the provided Element Name did not exist.

Fixed an issue that could prevent stored procedures from appearing for Amazon Redshift data connectors.

Fixed an issue where map visualizations could automatically zoom into data beyond the set Maximum Zoom Level, including when set to the maximum range of an external map provider's imagery to prevent elements from appearing out of sync.

When using a filter interaction, clicking on part of a visualization with no data now resets filtering to Data Default for date or numeric type parameters and not only hierarchy types.

To address errors occurring while loading large amounts of data using Python when it runs as a separate microservice, the maximum message size can be increased or disabled in the configuration settings in Administration.

Fixed an issue that could prevent the use of a tenant-overridden data connector when the original data source was unavailable due to its role in determining the available schema.

Fixed an unexpected error that could prevent data from being returned for bridge parameters in cases such as when there is no script.

Disabled accounts are no longer listed in dialogs for sharing or adding notification recipients.

Fixed an unexpected error occurring when exporting certain visualization configurations to Excel without excluding styling.

Fixed an error that could occur when loading an account's information if one of its custom attribute values was specified as a collection containing a null value.

Fixed errors and other unexpected behavior that could occur when using a Manual Select in a data cube with Amazon Redshift.

Fixed an issue that could unexpectedly cause a data cube to return no data when bridge parameters are set to All by default and not set by view parameters.

Fixed an issue preventing the loading indicators over visualizations from appearing for a second change to the requested data if the first request had not yet completed.

When connecting to PostgreSQL in a data connector, the minimum required version is now PostgreSQL 13. This does not apply for using PostgreSQL for the application and warehouse databases.

The styling of the login page, the main menu on the left, and primary buttons has changed: if these were customized by CSS in previous versions, those customizations may need to be updated. The order of the Data, Business, and Views menu items has also changed to reflect their order in the data flow.

Using the Edit Full Screen or Analyze Data option to edit your current visualization and its metric set full screen will now also preserve any view parameter values that were taking effect.

A new Redis cache provider implementation provider is available in the Helm chart for Kubernetes deployments, replacing the previous Bitnami dependency.
