Use the Visual Data Discovery Work Area

Use the main menu when you work in Visual Data Discovery navigate to any available connections, data sources, the visual gallery, libraries create visuals, access help, view your user profile, and perform other main application functions. Select the Home icon to return to this main work area.
Note: In this release, the user interface and workflows have changed from previous releases. If you are running an earlier release, see Earlier Releases.
Hover over an icon to see its function. Select the expand and collapse arrows to expand and collapse the menu. Depending on your application privileges and licensed features, the menu reflects what you can do. Switch to Managed Dashboards & Reports at any time from your Profile menu.
As you select from the available options, each section may open new work area or series of nested menus expanding from the main menu you can use to navigate existing content or create new content.
The main pane of this work area, by default, allows you access to your existing dashboards, reports, as well as other features or work areas your privileges may give you access to. When you select a menu option, more menu options may expand, and the pane changes to reflect the tasks you’re performing.
The main work area includes:
The main menu. Expand and collapse to access navigation options. Select a menu item to navigate to that work area, or open a sub menu of options.
Select a card to open a new work area for your desired task, such as adding and managing connections, data sources, dashboards, and reports.
Select to generate visuals using AI.
Jump Back In. A scrollable list of your most recently viewed items you can select from or search to find a specific item.
Note: You will not see information or links to resources your application privileges restrict you from accessing.
Earlier Releases
Launch the Visual Data Discovery work area by selecting the appropriate Open button on the Symphony home page. You can access any tasks you need to accomplish in the Visual Data Discovery module here.
Use the main menu to navigate to any available connections, data sources, the visual gallery, and libraries. Select the All Content icon while working in the data discovery module to return to this work area.
You can access the menu at any time when you use Symphony. Select the expand () and collapse (
) arrows to expand and collapse the pane. Depending on the module you’re working in, your application privileges, and licensed features, the menu reflects what you can do. Select the Home button at any time to return to the home page and navigate to another section or module of Symphony.
The main pane of this work area, by default, displays the number of connections, data sources, visuals, dashboards, and self service reports you can access in your environment. Select Connections, Sources, Visual Gallery, or a Library option to access available content. You will not see information or links to resources your application privileges restrict you from accessing. Available options you may see include:
