Modify Users
This applies to: Visual Data Discovery
Symphony administrators, tenant administrators, or a user who has been assigned to a group with user management privileges can modify user accounts.
Note: In this release, the user interface and workflows have changed from previous releases. If you are running an earlier release, see Modify a User (Earlier Releases).
Modify a User
Log in as an administrator or a user who has been assigned to a group with user management privileges. If you are logged in as a tenant admin, verify you're in or switch to the appropriate tenant.
Select Users from the Administration menu in Visual Data Discovery. The Users work area opens.
Scroll to find an existing user, or use the Search field to find a user.
On the left side of the work area, select the name of the user you want to modify. The user information appears on the right side of the work area.
On the General tab, you can update the values for User Name, Full Name, Email, and Tenants if needed. Change the user's role as a Global user or Administrator user here as well.
Regional settings are also located on the General tab. Adjust a user's Language, Region Presets, or Time Zone. See Specify A User's Regional Settings.

On the Custom Attributes tab, add or change custom attributes for the user as needed. SeeSpecify Custom User Attributes.
Select Save to save the changes you've made to this user.
Modify a User (Earlier Releases)
Log in as an administrator or a user who has been assigned to a group with user management privileges. If you are logged in as a tenant admin, verify you're in or switch to the appropriate tenant.
Select Users from the main menu. The Users work area opens. Scroll to find an existing user, or use the Search field to find a user.
Select Edit user from the Actions menu for the user you want to update. An Edit user pop up dialog opens.Select the actions menu button, then Edit in Visual Data Discovery.
The Users and Groups page appears. It consists of two sections: Users and Groups. Search for the user, or scroll to find the user you want to edit.
On the left side of the work area, select the name of the user you want to modify. The user information appears on the right side of the work area.
On the Info tab, update the values for Full Name and Email if needed. Select (check the checkbox) Disable User to disable this user.
On the Custom Attributes tab, add or change custom attributes for the user as needed. See Specify Custom User Attributes.
On the Regional Settings tab, change the regional language for the user as needed. See Specify A User's Regional Settings.
Select Save to save the changes you've made to this user.
